New Additions to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog [August 2025]

Okay, so imagine this: Sony just dropped a fresh batch of games for PlayStation Plus, and I’m all over it. We’re talking Mortal Kombat 1, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Unicorn Overlord—oh, and a bunch more—all landing on August 19. But, here’s the kicker: these gems are only for those high-rolling Extra and Premium members. Just FYI.

Now, Mortal Kombat 1. Yeah, it’s winding down, but still packs a punch with those mind-blowing fatalities. Keeps me entertained, you know?

And Spider-Man. Ah, Spider-Man. They’re serving up the Remastered version for PS5 folks and—drumroll—the Game of the Year edition for the diehards still on PS4. Nice touch, right?

Sword of the Sea is up next. Feels like Journey or ABZU—no surprise there since it shares the same artistic soul. Anyway, as soon as I get lost in its world, it’s like time just slips away. Weird, huh?

Then there’s Earth Defense Force 6. Imagine being this soldier fighting aliens. Alone or with your buds, it’s like a scene straight out of a disaster movie. Cue dramatic music.

And now for something different—Unicorn Overlord. Atlus and Vanillaware cooked up this tactical RPG with—get this—a “motley crew.” I’ve always loved that term. No idea why.

Atelier Ryza 3 has me playing as Ryza, saving my hometown. The journey’s wild, the stakes are high. Classic adventure stuff, right?

But Indika… oh boy—story-driven magic. Playing a young nun hanging out with, yep, the devil himself. Deep stuff.

Harold Halibut, though—a claymation labor of love. Years in the making, all about friendship smack dab in an alien ocean. Sounds crazy? Totally is.

Coral Island’s that peaceful escape option, farming and befriending folks. Think Stardew Valley vibes. That’s bliss right there.

Premium members get even more treats. Resident Evil 2 and 3’s Nemesis edition, serving up Leon and Jill’s survival tales, with slick new features. It’s like being back in 1998, but smoother. Nostalgia overload.
