Sure thing, let’s dive into the rollercoaster that is Ra Ra Boom, now ready to drop on Xbox Series X|S. You get to smack around some wild enemies, thanks to the hard work at Gylee Games. So, here’s my—which probably means chaotic—take on a few of those baddies in this side-scrolling beat ’em up.
Oh, and I guess I’m supposed to tell you a bit about the design thinking behind these. Maybe. It’s like sprinting while trying to remember what you came into the room for.
The Brute
Alright, picture this: a mix of roller coasters and monsters. Why? Because it’s cool, obviously. They created this boss that transforms into a coaster cart. Trust me, it’s as bizarre as it sounds, but it just works. The Brute isn’t just stomping around, it’s snapping at you and then suddenly, bam—it’s a cart and there you are, jumping and dodging like your life depends on it. Kinda does in the game, I suppose.
Martin
So there’s Martin. Every game needs that one thing you decide to regret right before deadline, and Martin was it for them. Apparently, flying enemies are a pain because—spoiler alert—no one knows where they are supposed to be in that 2D chaos. But they gave Martin some ridiculous holographic legs, which was either genius or desperation. Who knows? Somewhere down the line, this goofy combination just clicked, and Martin became real, much to everyone’s surprise.
Bruce
Bruce. Oh boy, Bruce. Trying to nail this boss fight was like chasing your own shadow. Motion sickness? Check. Boring as dried toast at first? Also check. It wasn’t until they added Eugene, this weird robot dude with some social anxiety, that things got interesting. At some point, it all just magically clicked—slow things down, let players actually do something, and suddenly it’s a proper showdown. Eventually, Bruce’s entrance was finally as epic as your last-minute cramming session before finals.

Now it’s your turn. Seriously, go beat up those enemies in Ra Ra Boom and see which one you love (or maybe hate?) the most. Jump in and create some chaos. You know you want to.
