Wow, where to even begin with the Resident Evil Requiem stuff that popped up in June? So Capcom’s Spotlight showcase – what a buzz that was supposed to be, right? Except, we kinda didn’t get the full-on gameplay fiesta folks were dying for. Just a taste, really.
But hey, it wasn’t a total letdown. There’s some juicy stuff in there about why Capcom’s steering the sequel in whatever weird direction they’re taking.
So, yeah, the Requiem segment. Felt more like one of those “Creators’ Message” diary videos. You know, the kind where you get a sprinkle of gameplay and lots of chatter. I mean, who watched for gameplay and got… interviews? Classic Capcom.
And then they dropped this tidbit: Grace, the new protagonist, is from the Ashcroft family from, remember? Resident Evil Outbreak. So there’s that. It’s like, they’re hitting pause on the Winters saga because, I guess, 30th anniversary vibes and wanting that old-school Raccoon City drama. Makes sense, sorta.
Oh! About picking Grace over Leon Kennedy. Kinda obvious when you think about it: Capcom wanted someone who could, I dunno, actually get scared? Leon’s too much of a tough cookie these days. Grace, though, she’s like us, or at least what they think we are. Unseasoned but, hey, she’s got those FBI gun skills. So, she’s scared but armed — balance achieved?
People chatting at Summer Game Fest? Said Requiem’s gonna be first-person and third-person. Total flexibility. Seems they realized we like our games in the same perspective once we pick one. Who knew, right?
And mark your calendar, because February 27, 2026, is when you can dive into this spooky journey on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Exciting times ahead, maybe.
