Alright, so here’s the thing… Xbox in VR? Sounds wild, right? I stumbled onto this thread — now totally vanished, by the way — and some images of this Xbox-branded Meta Quest popped up. Turns out, folks are just buzzing about it. Some fella named @bmfshow put it back on radar once it disappeared. What a ride.
Anyway, there was some chatter from Windows Central last year about this Xbox VR doohickey. Next thing you know, boom, it’s nearly here! We’re talking launch date of June 24 and a price tag of just under four hundred bucks. Not pocket change, but hey. It’s practically around the corner right after Xbox made noise about teaming up with Asus for the Xbox Ally handheld thingies. Kinda funny how Xbox shelved their own big idea, Project Kennan, or whatever it was called.
Oh, and a little nugget from Gamesandwich.com — real reliable, uh, sometimes — that the Quest 3S will be sneaking in on June 24. They say it’s got 128GB, which, no offense to the tech people, sounds like mumbo jumbo to me. And there’s more goodies in the box! An Elite Strap, an Xbox controller, and a few months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate? Sweet deal if you ask me.
For reasons I can’t totally grasp, Phil Spencer, the Microsoft Gaming head honcho, once said, “No one’s really screaming for VR on Xbox.” But you know how the winds change; now, Xbox is all about Cloud Gaming. You can even get your VR kicks with Xbox games on Meta, thanks to the cloud. That’s the magic of streaming, folks. Probably still a must-have, regardless of what headset you end up using.
Since shouting about the “This is an Xbox” campaign, they’ve broadened their playground — from consoles to PCs to phones and TVs. Oh, and let’s not forget the fun gadgets like VR headsets and handhelds. The list keeps growing, just like my inbox.
