Limited Run Games is giving us a throwback with Gex Trilogy—yep, they finally said when it’s dropping. And guess what, we’re getting three physical versions for the Nintendo Switch. Seriously, three. I know, right?
So, what’s the deal with these games? Well, it’s the whole shebang: Gex, plus Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko. We’ve all come a long way since playing on clunky CRTs, but now they’re adding stuff like Rewind and Save Anywhere. Because, honestly, who remembers where those save points were? I sure don’t.
And hold up—for Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko, they’re not just slapping a new coat of paint on them. They’ve got 16:9 widescreen support now. I guess we don’t have to squint anymore. They worked on the controls too—full-on 360-degree movements. Pretty sure the Gecko army knows what I’m talking about.
Now, if you’re wondering about those editions, brace yourself. Here’s the lineup:
First, there’s the Standard Edition for $39.99. Think basics here: disc or cartridge, game case, the usual.
But then, for those feeling a bit fancier, check out the Classic Edition at $74.99. It’s got all the standard stuff, plus a Steelbook, a cool double-sided poster, and even a soundtrack CD if you’re into that retro vibe. Oh, and there’s a nifty retro-style box. Because why not?
And, oh man, now to the ridiculous—sorry, I mean ridiculously awesome—Tail Time Edition. This one’s $199.99 and, no joke, comes with a 36” inflatable Gex doll. Like, what? You also get a statue, some trading cards, a remote pin, and a full soundtrack CD. And let’s not forget the art-covered collector’s box by the legendary Yoshitaka Amano. ’Cause apparently, it’s tail time.
Anyway, mark your calendars: June 16, 2025. It’s hitting the Nintendo eShop, then later that year, the physical editions should ship. If you’re the kind who likes pre-orders and planning, you’ve got until July 6, 2025, to get your name on the list. Head over to the Limited Run Games site, and cross your fingers.
So yeah, if you’re living for that nostalgia rush or just wanna argue about how things were better back in the day, this might just be your jam.
