It’s wild how just a week has spun by since Meta dropped the Quest 3S Xbox Edition headset, and BAM, it’s vanished from Meta’s own shelves. Seriously, it’s like they never had it to begin with. Sure, you can still find it lurking in corners of other retailers. Lucky scavengers.
Meta, they had blabbed about this Quest 3S Xbox Edition being super “limited.” And limited it is! If you went to Meta’s site in the U.S. or U.K., it was like, poof, gone — not a trace. I guess either everyone and their dog wants it or Meta barely stocked it. Hard to say what’s up.
Meanwhile, over at Best Buy, and somehow in Argos and EE out in the UK, it’s still chillin’. Even the official Xbox site is just shrugging it off to Meta’s out-of-stock notice. Did they not think these things would fly off the shelves that fast? Plot twist!
Then, there are those folks hustling on eBay, selling the Quest 3S Xbox Edition at a higher price. Typical, right? It’s not even that different from the regular Quest 3S. Same guts inside: display, lenses, brains. But hey, you get a fancy color, an Xbox controller, and a few months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Play all the things, except, well, don’t expect every game to work. Bummer, I know.
That bundle costs $400, and guess what? It’s actually cheaper by $75 than piecing it all together separately. So you save 16% which, I mean, great for those counting pennies.
Microsoft, way back in 2016, teased us with dreams of the Xbox One X diving into “high fidelity VR.” Spoiler alert: Never happened. So, here we are, wishing we could actually play Xbox games in VR, but nah, not today. It’s just the ol’ flatscreen view in a VR headset. Fun times?
Anyway, gotta admit, the option’s there, and man, wouldn’t it be something if they rolled out some 3D magic for Xbox games in VR? A gamer can dream!
Oh, and speaking of numbers, had to fix a little arithmetic hiccup earlier. Was off by a chunk; the bundle’s value was misquoted. Went from $415 to $475. Oops!
So, will you snag one or sit this tech chaos out? Who knows.
