Alright, bear with me here. I just got this wild tidbit about Rob Yescombe — yeah, the guy behind that VR mystery game, The Invisible Hours, from, like, 2017. So, guess what? He just got his game rights back. Crazy, right? And now he’s all, “Let’s bring this bad boy to modern VR headsets and maybe even TV and film!” Like, isn’t that ambitious? Or maybe I’m easily impressed.
So, Hollywood Reporter got wind of this and says Rob’s on the hunt for partners to maybe turn this into a movie or TV show. Wouldn’t that be nuts? It’s one of those unique VR mystery games, kinda like Agatha Christie stuff mashed up with Clue. Man, I can totally see it.
Here’s the deal — in this game, you’re just hanging out, invisible-style, in a sprawling mansion on a lonely island. You’re sneaking around, piecing together who offed Nikola Tesla. Yeah, Tesla! But you’re not really “playing” — more like peeping. You get to speed through time and stalk seven suspects. Not creepy at all, right?
Back in 2017, it launched on PC VR and the OG PSVR. Critics were all over it. Tequila Works planned to port it to Quest in 2020, but then, bam, they closed shop in 2024. Sad, honestly. But here comes Yescombe again, with his reclaimed IP, calling it a “prime candidate to remaster.” Those were his words. Who even talks like that?
And Yescombe? After The Invisible Hours, he’s been writing for other cool stuff. Like, The Twilight Zone VR and Arizona Sunshine 2. Not to mention The Precinct – a flat game, but let’s not judge. He’s got his fingers in all these pies. Writing for Netflix’s Outside the Wire and some film Jackpot! with Paul Feig. He’s even dabbled in Alien, Blade Runner… Family Guy? Whoa.
Anyway. Just kind of wild to see his journey, you know? Makes me think if this remaster thing happens, it’s gonna be a wild ride. Or maybe I just love a good comeback story. Who knows where this’ll land? Exciting times ahead. Or not. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
