Alright, so here’s the scoop, or maybe the mess — kinda depends on how you see it. So, Borderlands 4, right? Big names, big guns, big explosions. At least, that’s the hope. I think it’s coming out September 12th but don’t hold me to that. Anyway, there’s this whole feature, the Photo Mode thing, that’s got everyone talking. Well, not everyone, just the folks who really get jazzed about snapping fancy pics mid-game. Yeah, that’s a thing now. And here’s where it gets sticky. It’s not gonna be there when the game drops. Why? Who knows. Just gotta wait.
So, this guy — Graeme Timmins, creative head or big cheese or something — blurted out on the social media interwebs, “Oh hey, we’ve got this mode! But, whoops, not right now. Later.” Or something less flippant, I guess. Maybe a sensible human would’ve led with what’s playable now, before wandering into future features. Priorities, right?
He yammered on about polishing other bits. Whatever that means — I picture them buffing a game disc with a rag, I guess? They needed to make sure the game’s “moment-to-moment experience” was top notch. Because we all know that’s what keeps people hooked. Twiddly picture-taking can wait. Unless you’re one of those hyper-enthusiast types. Then, well, sorry!
Flashback moment! Borderlands 3 popped up with Photo Mode on PC first. Console friends had to hang tight and twiddle their thumbs, I think. Weird that, for the spinoff—Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands—everyone got it all at once. All platforms, one mode, no sweat. So, might be they’re just testing our patience. Fun, right?
Now, the burning question hovering in my mind is this: they’ve got this beefy tech — Unreal Engine 5 — and you’d think they’d show it off from day one. Or maybe not. I’m confused. ‘Cause if there’s ever a time to flaunt graphical muscle, this would be it. But hey, Gearbox’s call.
Just think, Borderlands 4 could be 2025’s shiny gem or the thing everyone talks about while standing in line for coffee, maybe. Seriously, four new Vault Hunters, tantalizing story on a tough-as-nails planet, and more missed Photo Modes than you can shake a stick at. Dramatic much? Yes.
So brace yourself for some neck-deep gaming chaos on Xbox Series this and PS something-or-others, along with the trusty PC. And the prices? Oh man, not cheap. But are we surprised? Not really.
Ready for launch day? Eh, I guess. Keep those fingers crossed Photo Mode crashes the party sooner rather than later.
