Alright, so imagine this. After Konami blew people away with the Silent Hill 2 Remake — I mean, my expectations were lower than a limbo stick at a dance-off, but they skyrocketed after playing the actual thing — they’re diving back into the mysterious fog with Bloober Team to tackle, wait for it, the original Silent Hill from 1999. Yep, the OG creepy town’s getting a new coat of paint. Or fog. Whatever. They’ve announced it, but mum’s the word on when we’ll actually get to play it. Typical, right?
Not that this news is shocking. I mean, Bloober Team mentioned they’d be mixing it up with Konami again post-SH2 Remake, so it’s no mind-blower here. Everyone and their aunt figured if SH2 got the royal treatment, Silent Hill and maybe even Silent Hill 3 were on deck too. I mean, Bloober Team nailed it the first time, so why not let them roll the dice again?
Konami’s onboard — woohoo for us fans who love the charming little vacation spot of Silent Hill. This time around, though, it’s not about James Sunderland and his baggage, but Harry Mason. Single dad, on holiday with his adopted kiddo Cheryl, trying to chill after his wife passed. Sounds relaxing, right? Which — okay, yeah, maybe it’s kinda reminiscent of SH2, but stay with me here.
So, Harry and Cheryl are cruising toward Silent Hill when, bam, car crash. Harry wakes up in a daze, and Cheryl’s vanished. Cue the panic mode. He plunges into this bizarre quest, running into all sorts of horrors and oddballs along the way. Feels a bit like Silent Hill 2 redux on the surface, sure, but trust me, there’s a wild ride beneath it all. Can’t spoil it, though, especially for newcomers to the Silent Hill carnival. Seatbelts on, people.
Bloober’s definitely juggling fireballs here, redoing another Silent Hill game. Talk about living up to the hype, right? But given how brilliant SH2 turned out, yeah, my hopes are doing the cha-cha on the ceiling. So, what’s your take on all this madness?
