Wow, okay, where do I even start? So, there’s this whole thing about a new system launch next week—Switch 2, I think? Or something like that. Last time we were in this situation was back in 2017, and it wasn’t as chaotic as now. I guess everyone’s just dropping games like it’s the last day of school before summer break. Seriously, it’s a mess out there.
The lineup is wild. In North America, we’re swamped with like six times the usual number of games compared to 2017. Europe? Even crazier, almost tenfold. And Japan? Well, let’s just say there are so many I couldn’t count without unlocking some region-spanning superpower. Go figure.
So, some notable names—Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 is one of ’em. It comes from CyberConnect2, and supposedly you can keep the kids out of the cannon with a “story” button or something. Why a cannon’s involved, not sure, but it piqued my curiosity. Then there’s something cozy called Cattle Country, by Playtonic (Friends). I’m guessing the cows are chill, maybe sipping tea?
What about those missed gems from last week? Yeah, we’ve got Wilmot Works It Out, a sequel to Wilmot’s Warehouse that slipped by. Also, Ryukyu, a solitaire poker game originally by Success. Because what we all need right now is more card games, right?
I can’t even keep track of everything. North America alone has a list longer than my grocery shopping, with names like Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage and Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-Yo. Those two titles alone sound like a whole adventure. Multiple new releases daily, sometimes more than one, and prices all over the place—dizzying, really.
And Europe, holy moly. Imagine the same chaos but with Euros. Seriously, they’ve got games like Nice Day For Fishing (is that sarcastic?) and Advanced V.G. Saturn Tribute. Probably a nostalgic trip if I had to bet.
Japan isn’t left out either. They’re offering some heavy hitters and quirky ones like BYAKKO: Shijin Butai Enrenki – which, by the way, I dare you to say without stumbling. Plus, some games with a typical anime flair that makes you nod and smile, even if you’re too old to really get it now.
Clearly, pre-launch weeks are something else. Sales, price cuts, and a general frenzy. Risk of Rain 2 is a steal at 75% off, they’ve practically put it in the clearance bin. Total madness, but hey, maybe that’s where the fun is? Who knows, next week might just be… well, let’s say interesting.
