Samsung Unpacked is supposed to hit us next month, and yep, it’s the usual gadget extravaganza. We might see the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and even the new Galaxy Watch 8. But here’s the kicker—there’s buzz about their upcoming XR headset, Project Moohan. Wild, right?
They first talked about Project Moohan back in December 2024 alongside Android XR. It sounds fancy and all, but there’s no specific launch date yet. Just a vague “sometime this year.” Classic Samsung, keeping us hanging.
Then there’s this serial leaker—goes by ‘Panda Flash’—who’s convinced the headset might get a release date soon. You know, had high hopes for some scoop at Google I/O last month, but nada. Maybe Samsung’s keeping it under wraps for a surprise.
Oh, and turns out Panda Flash, who’s been all up in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 rumors, thinks the headset will first drop in South Korea. Then roll out globally. Kinda like Apple did with the Vision Pro. A little déjà vu, don’t you think?
Honestly, Samsung’s been teasing this Vision Pro rival for a while now. We even got a sneak peek in December, but they’re still hush-hush on the specs. What we do know is it’s packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 + Gen 2, micro‑OLED panels from Sony (resolution’s still a mystery), those fancy pancake lenses, and all the bells and whistles like eye and hand-tracking. There’s even talk of a magnetically-attached light shield and a removable battery pack.
And hey, what’s this about smart glasses? Samsung might be cooking up something to compete with Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. No idea how real that is, but we’ll see.
In any case, I’m keeping an eye out for official dates for Samsung Unpacked. Early next month in NYC, apparently. Should be fun.
