Warner Bros, the entertainment heavyweight, has reportedly shelved a planned expansion for Hogwarts Legacy.
According to Bloomberg, this expansion was in development to launch alongside a Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG. It was supposed to introduce fresh storylines. However, Warner Bros decided to pull the plug on the project, feeling there wasn’t enough content to justify the asking price they had in mind. Avalanche Software, the original creator of the game, was said to be working on the expansion with some input from Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is also rumored to be crafting a sequel to the Harry Potter adventure.
After announcing the cessation of support for the 2024 release of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” Rocksteady had to make some tough decisions, leading to layoffs.
Last year, Warner Bros openly admitted their gaming division wasn’t performing as expected. They even took a substantial hit, writing off a whopping $200 million over the costs associated with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This financial strain has led to the closure of three of their studios, including Monolith, and the resignation of their seasoned executive, David Haddad.
