Alright, so here’s the deal. Stainless Games, the folks behind Carmageddon (yeah, that wild game from way back), just shuffled the deck a bit. Ben Gunstone, who’s been hanging around since 2022, got bumped up to be the big kahuna, aka CEO. No pressure, right? He steps in for Patrick Buckland, the guy who basically started this whole shebang in ’94.
Ben’s journey is kinda interesting. Like, he kicked things off as a game director and somehow wriggled his way to operations director. Before Stainless? He had a little stint at Dovetail Games. Anyway, he seems pretty stoked about the whole CEO gig. “Delighted and humbled,” he says. Classic line, huh? I mean, it must feel like getting the keys to a really old, noisy car that still runs great.
Now, Patrick – oh boy, Patrick’s a trip. This dude’s been steering the ship for almost three decades, and he’s like, “Guess it’s time to chill a bit.” He’s not totally peacing out though, just sliding into a comfy Executive Chairman chair. Man, does that sound cozy or what? He jokes about his age—says he’s about to hit 62 but playfully adds he doesn’t look a day over 70. Love it.
It’s cool though ’cause he still holds most of the cards as the majority shareholder. So, yeah, he’s letting Ben take the wheel but isn’t completely checking out from the daily grind just yet.
Anyway, that’s the latest from the Stainless Games saga. Will this leadership switch make a splash or is it just another Tuesday over there? Who knows.
(Wait, did I mention something about wet cardboard earlier? No? Must have drifted off.)
