I get it, I’m supposed to start with the Switch 2 thing, but hey, it’s the Drag x Drive trial. Wow, spoiler alert already.
Anyway, somehow this week is both chill and way too hectic for early August. How does that even happen? Gradius Origins kicks things off — remember it from the March Switch 1 Direct? Yeah, lasers. Big ones. Taking down the final boss of NES Pro Wrestling or something. We also got a remake of The House of the Dead 2. Word of caution: that one’s by Forever Entertainment. And if you’re feeling like a complete 180, dive into the anime worlds of the latest Demon Slayer and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia.
And then there are those weirdly small things. Like, why does The Edge of Allegoria look like Pokemon RBY in HD? It’s not even the most obvious copyright mess of the week. Enter Team17’s Ritual of Raven. What’s going on there?
THINGS WE MISSED LAST WEEK: Yep, a Partner Showcase. Chilling By The Fire? Sure. But seriously, another reset of the “Directs Without Saga Reveal” sign. Come on, Square Enix! We did get some Switch versions of 3DS-era Harvest Moons. And Taito’s “Field Day” hit the Archives. Missed all that? So did I.
EGGCONSOLE GAMING IN JAPANESE: Is it doable? Kinda. It’s action RPG-ish, another Xak version. Probably tricky if they start talking a lot though. Good luck with that.
