Oh boy, where do I even start with this one? So, you know how life just decides to throw you a curveball sometimes? Apparently, some folks in Arapahoe County, Colorado, decided it was a great idea to swipe 2,810 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. I mean, that’s just shy of $1.4 million bucks, for crying out loud! A truck driver was just going about his business, checking his trailer at Lowe’s Truck Stop in Bennett, when BAM! Trailer broken into. Stuff gone. Whoopsie!
This poor guy, he was just cruising along from Nintendo’s HQ in Redmond, Washington, down to a GameStop in Grapevine, Texas. Little did he know, his precious cargo would vanish into thin air. He didn’t even know what exactly was in the trailer—just games or toys, he thought. Imagine his surprise!
Now, whether this heist went down at the truck stop or somewhere else? Ah, your guess is as good as mine. The sheriff’s looking for anyone who might’ve seen something fishy. Unreal, right? If you’re into crime scenes and all that, you might get a kick out of the crime scene pics floating online.
Oh, and did I mention these babies were about to launch for $449? They’ve already smashed past the old console sales, selling like hotcakes. Imagine going to a store and smoothly picking one up right off the shelf. No crazy scalpers to deal with this time! Seriously, kudos to Nintendo for being prepared.
But back to the theft thing—just wild! These weren’t amateur hour thieves. Nope, they had some brains behind this operation, targeting these consoles like pros. Makes you wonder if they had a tip-off, or maybe it was just dumb luck.
So hey, if you’re in the market for a new Switch 2 (and who wouldn’t be?), keep an eye out, especially if you’re digging through online deals or sketchy shops. Nintendo might know those stolen papers’ serials, and you never know, flick on your console and poof—it might just stop working.
Anyway, follow Tom’s Hardware for more on this saga. And yeah, that was my ramble for the day.
