The gaming scene is buzzing with exciting news as indie XR studio, The Binary Mill, has revealed that their thrilling space mining adventure, “Into Black,” is gearing up to make its debut on PSVR 2. Initially, this game captured players’ imaginations exclusively on Quest since its October launch. Now, its Deep Rock Galactic-inspired action is ready to thrill a broader audience.
For those unfamiliar, “Into Black” is a dynamic single-player and co-op experience, accommodating up to four players. The game challenges you to excavate valuable resources, enhance your tools, and repair your spacecraft. Spanning over 20 levels across diverse biomes, players will face various foes as they strive to gather the necessary components to escape a perilous alien world.
In a thrilling addition, the PSVR 2 release will introduce the ‘Singularity’ mode. This PvPvE feature ramps up the competition by allowing you to engage with up to 11 other players. As the studio describes it, this mode is all about navigating a dwindling maze, forging uneasy alliances, and amassing as much loot as possible—beware, though, getting too greedy might leave you trapped.
Furthermore, the PSVR 2 version of “Into Black” isn’t just a simple port. The game is being meticulously revamped to take full advantage of PSVR 2’s capabilities. Expect breathtaking remastered settings, dynamic lighting with HDR, eye-tracked foveated rendering, and enhanced haptics due to PS Sense’s adaptive triggers and the headset’s rumble feature.
One thing gamers might be wondering about is cross-play compatibility with Quest. Currently, that feature won’t be available at launch, as confirmed by the studio in an update to Road to VR. Meanwhile, we’re eagerly awaiting a trailer that showcases the game’s PSVR 2 enhancements. The studio has teased us with a handful of images and a couple of gifs that hint at what’s to come.
As of now, the release date is still under wraps, but The Binary Mill assures us that it’s on its way “soon.” In anticipation, you might want to wishlist “Into Black” on the PlayStation Store to be among the first to dive into this thrilling adventure once it lands on PSVR 2.
