Well, here we go diving into the maze that is Nintendo’s pricing strategy. So, Nintendo’s saying something about tweaking prices in Canada. Why? Heck if I know. Maybe it’s the winds of the market or just, you know, stuff happening. All I’ve heard is that the regular ol’ Switch, the OLED one, and even the cute little Lite are caught in this whole process. Oh, and not just consoles—games, and those funny Amiibo things too.
They promised some new prices on August 1, but what the prices will look like? It’s anyone’s guess, really. The rumor mill’s on overdrive, talking about inflation or tariffs or… unicorns? Kidding. But seriously, they didn’t say if things are gonna skyrocket or drop. But c’mon, it feels like an increase, right? Given they’re warning us and all.
Now, right this minute, the Switch is going for about $399 Canadian dollars. The OLED? That’s at $449, and the Switch Lite’s chilling at $259. If I were a betting person, I’d say prices might creep up by 5 to 10% because, well, they tend to do that these days. But hey, what do I know?
Oh, funny enough, this isn’t Nintendo’s first rodeo with these “market condition” excuses. Remember April? They blamed some stuff for pushing back the Switch 2 pre-orders. Tariffs, trade stuff, political hullabaloo—who can keep up? They still hit the launch date though, so… points for that?
The good news for Switch 2 buyers—you guys dodge the price bullet this time. It’s a fancy gadget with a 7.9-inch screen and God knows what else, selling like hotcakes apparently. Three and a half million units in four days, wowza.
And, hey, if you’re drooling over the Switch 2, there are guides out there for snatching it up in the US or UK. Can’t promise I’ve read them, but they update them, or so they say.
Lastly—and here’s your obligatory plug—follow Tom’s Hardware on Google News or something for more. Or don’t. No pressure.
