Well, okay, so there’s this leak, right? And it’s got some Sony fans in a bit of a tizzy. Why? Because Sony’s apparently cooking up a plan to spread their PlayStation games onto other consoles. Like, you know, Xbox and Nintendo. Yep, they put out this official job ad – nothing sneaky about it – where they’re looking for someone to help slap PlayStation games onto these rival systems. Weird, huh?
So, here’s the juicy part. They’re hunting for this Senior Director, Multiplatform & Account Management, character. Sounds fancy. But what really jumps at me – and maybe I’m just piecing things together from snippets here – is that they’re talking about pushing PlayStation Studios games beyond just PC. Oh, they mean business.
The job ad spells it out like this: “You will play a critical leadership role blah blah blah…” – you get the gist. Anyway, it’s about getting PlayStation games all over, like Steam, Epic, Xbox, Nintendo, and even mobile. I swear, my head almost spun.
Now here’s the thing. The internet does what the internet does best – flips out! Xbox folks are grinning ear to ear, but if you peek into any random gaming forum, there’s a swirl of grumpy PlayStation fans. Makes sense, kind of? They think if everyone can get PlayStation games, what’s even the point of buying a PlayStation console? Like, why bother?
But some industry buffs chime in, tossing around ideas that console exclusives might not make the dough they used to. Times change, I suppose. This one ex-PlayStation developer even piped up about it – can’t make this stuff up.
Got to wonder though. How’re you feeling about all this? Was Helldivers 2 the kickoff for this whole sprint to change? Or maybe – and this is just me wandering – it’s all part of a much bigger puzzle.
