Alright, so I was nosing around the PlayStation Store, and there’s this thing called the Next Level Savings promotion. I mean, I wasn’t even planning to buy anything, but you know how it goes. Then boom, indie games everywhere. And what’s better? They’re crazy cheap. Honestly, anything up to 75% off — that’s hard to resist, right? One game, in particular, caught my eye. It’s this horror game that’s supposedly terrifying. More on that in a sec.
So, speaking of terrifying stuff, Outlast is going for just $5 right now on the PS Store. I had to blink a couple of times. It’s usually $20. But there’s a catch! You gotta grab it before May 29. After that, I guess it’s back to paying full price.
Outlast has this storyline set in Colorado’s mountains. I don’t know what it is about remote mountains and creepy stuff, but it works. Picture this: some asylum that’s got this weird research thing going on. That’s my rough take from the game description, anyway. This place is run by the Murkoff Corp, and they’ve got things super hush-hush. Until, surprise, a journalist named Miles decides to poke around.
From what I gather, Miles is our guy who sneaks in, and things go from zero to “what did I just see.” It sort of mixes science, religion, and a bunch of whatever-else-spooks-you stuff. He’s trying to escape, uncovering creepy truths as he goes. Sounds intense, right?
Oh, and hey, if after playing you’re like, “I need more of this madness,” there’s some DLC called Whistleblower. It’s like a backstory and finale rolled into one. Not discounted, though. It’ll run you $9, more or less. Still, the whole freaky package is under $14. Not too shabby!
Fun fact: Outlast launched way back in 2013 and critics ate it up. I peeked at Metacritic, and it’s sitting at an 80 from a bunch of reviews. Impressive, considering how much scary stuff’s out there.
So yeah, if you’re into spine-chilling adventures, or just want some cheap thrills on your PS4 or PS5, might be worth checking out. Or maybe I just have a weird thing for discounts — who really knows.
